Franklin Cudjoe, Founder of IMANI Africa, a civil society group, says it is shivering to believe that Members of Parliament (MPs), paid than the normal Ghanaian, would need another chamber.
In an interview on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show, closely monitored by RadjTV, he said “Your bills are really costing us as a country”.
Although cost of the new parliament stays undisclosed, what is known is that the new complex will presently have a house of prayer, a mosque, gardens and a chamber with the ability to situate 450 Members of Parliament.
The present chamber, according to Sir David Adjaye, a renowned British architect, will be converted into a conference facility.
Parliament has said the structure is required in light of the fact that the present office needs basic respectability.
The Current Parliament house has undergone some renovations since it was built in 1965 by Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Franklin Cudjoe stressed that Parliament’s most recent need is “really costing us as a country.” He likewise stressed that a 450-chamber is sign of a potential increment in the quantity of MPs by 175 seats more.
