Over 50 major markets in all 18 districts of the volta region will undergo a mass fumigation exercise on Saturday April 4.
The exercise, forms part of a nationwide exercise to disinfect major markets in the country against the COVID-19 disease.
Speaking at a media briefing the Volta regional minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa indicated that the exercise will be done with support from the security agencies and urged the voltarians especially the market women to take note and comply accordingly.
He added that measures have been put in place to ensure that the workers who will support them are negative of the virus.
He further said “although there have been rumours of confirmed cases in the region, blood samples of all 15 suspected cases have tested negative at the Nogouchi Memorial Institute for Medical research”.
So far the greater Accra, Ashanti, and Bèono regions have had their markets disinfected against the deadly COVID 19 virus.
