Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, during the Christmas and New year celebrations, put together some attractive packages for the elderly within the constituency, which is an annual initiative of the MP.
News of the MPs’ initiative spread far and wide within the constituency and didn’t seem to sit well with the brother of Kwadwo Asante, a parliamentary hopeful contesting to unseat Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah in the forthcoming NPP Parliamentary primaries in Suhum, has threatened to unleash voilence on supporters campaigning for the incumbent MP, even though, his brother, the opponent after picking his forms preached for peace, has ended up inciting his followers to cause mayhem.
The brother, who is popularly known as Mantey, organized men from Okorase, a town within the Constituency, announcing and threatening to beat up anyone who openly campaigns for Opare-Ansah and not his brother.
The constituents, out of fear for their life, run to the MPs’ residence to report the incident to him who in turn forwarded the complaint to the Suhum District Police Commander to exercise the law.
Confirming the news to RadjTV, Hon. Opare-Ansah has called for calm and is admonishing the police to swiftly investigate and make arrests where necessary to ensure peaceful elections within the Suhum Constituency.
Reports reaching us now indicates that, the police has already made three arrests and investigations are still ongoing.
