A total of 18 persons suspected to be engaged in criminal activities have been arrested at Tamale in the Northern region.
They were arrested in three separate swoops by a joint police and military contingent on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 based on intelligence gathered.
According to a police statement, the aim of the exercise is to rid of criminals who have been terrorizing residents in the Metropolis and its surroundings. The Police also impounded eight motorbikes which were left behind by suspects who bolted during the operation.
Substances suspected to be narcotics were also seized. Police say the suspects have since been detained and will be screened. A similar exercise is expected to be carried out across the other regions in the north.
